Thank you for spelling all this out. I’ve had that gut-punch moment when I finally realised my husband doesn’t see us as one unit of four parts, but as two - there’s him as one unit, and me and the kids as another. And I’ve also seen friends have that realisation in real time.

I’ve more recently realised that he also thinks a lot of the parenting work is optional for both of us, and doesn’t care about the value of it. He can see that I do more than him, but that I should also choose to opt out of it when he wants my time, otherwise I’m “putting the kids before the marriage”.

How you express all these things without paragraphs and paragraphs of four-letter words, or starting each new section with, "And then this motherfucker...", it's so impressive!
